I was on Twitter for a very long time, even though I shifted accounts and usernames many times, I remember creating my Twitter account way back in 2008 or 2009. At that time there was the fire-house a global timeline to see all the tweets in real-time because there were only a few Twitter users at the time.

Even though I deleted my Facebook account in 2019, I continued to use Twitter because I found it more authentic. I have made some good friends along the way thanks to Twitter, and it also helped me to get attention to my blog posts.

There was a time when I even got replies from people like Mathew Prince of Cloudflare when I was blogging about info-sec for a while because Twitter was such a small community back then.

I guess Twitter has now slowly come to a point where you can’t escape from Bots, and Crypto scams, people celebrating the closing down of USAID, and people losing their jobs at the FDA and CDC.

I know it makes sense for people to be on Twitter if you are an influencer, but I am not an influencer and like I have complained from time to time, the initial fun of being on Twitter is not there anymore. And after I created my new Twitter account around 2022, I struggled to find new followers.

And finally, I feel that my mental health should leave Twitter and not open it anymore.

I still have an account on BlueSky which I might use from time to time. But I guess I won’t be missing Twitter or Facebook, and I know Twitter and people on Twitter won’t miss me either.
